In many industrial applications you don’t need a pretty, over the top digital solution – you need something that gets the job done and gets information across reliably. In such situations where simple, precise information is the order of business, numeric displays are usually the practical option. But if you’re in the market for a set of numeric displays for your company to be used as a critical accurate data display source, there are several options to consider.
7-segment displays
7-segment displays have been used for over a hundred years now and are made up of 7 small segments configured in a number 8 formation. Segments can then be turned off and on to display 1-0. It’s the kind of display you’ll find on your old fashioned calculator and is still used today in many industrial settings. This is often the most practical solution when reliability is absolutely key. For example, when being used as rate meters to show how many widgets an hour are being produced, or to count widgets off the end of the line.
Digital clocks
Of course, we couldn’t mention numeric displays without bringing attention to perhaps the most widely used numeric display of all – the humble digital clock. While they might not be as feature-rich as other solutions listed here they can be incredibly useful in warehouses.
Our mains powered time/temperature models even include non-volatile memory to store settings and can be controlled remotely. Because, while everyone might have a smartphone on them these days, you don’t want to encourage your employees to check their social media feeds every 10 minutes.

These large digit process displays feature a large range of inputs and functions and ensure your critical data is accurately and easily viewed by staff, customers and colleagues. There are various sizes to choose from too, so whatever your application there should be a display suitable.
Lost time accident displays
Otherwise known as LTA displays, these health and safety digit displays exist for one purpose – to reinforce your company’s commitment to safe working practices. You’ll find these displays outside warehouses and other industrial workplaces around the world. They are also regularly used in logistics and distribution centres, where there could be hundreds of people operating at once.
They serve a very important purpose – reinforcing the importance that health and safety plays in your workplace. These displays are a more aesthetically pleasing alternative to old-fashioned dry wipe marker boards. They are also automatic, so don’t have to be manually updated every day.
Current/voltmeters
Used for measuring current and voltage signals, AC current and voltmeters are used regularly by industry and can be used to accurately give a current or volt reading. Process meters, meanwhile, work similarly and are used to measure pressure, and Spectra also stocks temperature displays using PT100, thermocouples, counters and rate meters. Providing high specification at a low cost, these digital panel meters use 7-segment values but are on a much smaller and more specific scale.
