With winter almost behind us and the spring season on the horizon, this is the time of year when many businesses begin to start planning how they are going to invest in their most potentially profitable months. It’s the ideal time to consider investing in new digital signage.
But before you put your money down, you might want to consider the way the industry is due to adapt to 2023 and what you might want to consider when shopping around for your perfect solution.
The cloud becomes standard
Whereas digital display content was always traditionally locked to a specific platform, we have seen a major increase in cloud adoption in recent years that looks set to increase further still in spring 2023. Cloud-based digital signage allows users to manage content remotely and easily update and change it when required. It also allows those with multiple digital signs across multiple locations to sync content and deliver real-time information.
A gateway to the metaverse
While the metaverse might not yet have taken off in quite the way Mark Zuckerberg might hope it would, the launch of the PSVR 2 this year and the increasing affordability of VR, in general, means the slow march towards wider adoption remains steady. Your digital signage can act as the bridge between the real world and the virtual. This could mean signs that are able to operate in both the virtual and physical realms, sharing data and adapting to each environment without losing common ground.
Security still matters
If digital signage is hacked, then it can seriously damage your brand and your message. It can even have a damaging impact on your software and hardware if it’s particularly malicious. Expect digital signage to focus more heavily on security, with newer displays to be more reliable and breach-proof. This is especially important if you plan on installing signage in public spaces such as schools or hospitals.
A new wave of social interaction
Social media is something we all assumed would be a flash in the pan years ago, but it’s ingrained itself in our lives in a way it’s going to be almost impossible to ignore. The rise of TikTok has also changed the way younger consumers interact and engage with content. Digital signage in 2023 needs to be able to keep up with this fast-moving world and adapt quickly and effectively to the whims of the population.
DV LED
One of the most exciting movements in digital signage technology in recent years has been the development of more affordable DV (direct view) LED video. While direct view has been around for years now, the more accessible technology is set to receive a major popularity boost in 2023. Unlike regular LED screens, DV LED eliminates the LCD panel, using a surface array of LEDs as the display pixels instead. This allows for more dynamic contrast, bolder colours, and significantly higher brightness levels.
