Digital signage has given businesses of all sizes the opportunity to display a range of messages that actively engage, entertain and inform customers and employees. But while buying the right digital signage for your needs is certainly half the solution, the other half is ensuring you’re actually making the most of your investment. Here, we’ll be focusing on some of the ways you could and should be using your signage more effectively to ensure a solid ROI.
Relevant content
If the content that you display addresses the needs and desires of your audience directly, they are more likely to be engaged and perhaps swayed by it. This means content should be visually engaging but also relevant to your intended audience.
Get into the cloud
Whereas updating digital signage with fresh and reactive content was once a difficult task, the advent of cloud technology for digital signage has made it incredibly simple. If you want to communicate information to your customers or your staff, you can now do so from a remote device and have it delivered to any number of displays. This makes it incredibly useful for everything from special offers to delivering meeting schedules and alerts.
Keep customers updated
If your business has a reception or waiting room, or even a queue, digital signage can improve the flow of customers by keeping them informed of what’s going on and when they are expected to be seen by a member of staff. It could even include a potential countdown to their appointment time. This elevates the customer experience and helps them feel as if their time is valued.
Movie magic
Animated content is always going to be a bigger draw than static content so why not make the most of your signage by loading it with dynamic and exciting videos rather than dull slideshows? Try to limit your videos to around 15-30 seconds though, as any longer and you’ll probably lose the customer’s attention.
The call to action
Marketing exists to grow your business and the most effective way to do this is to rally your customers (or potential customers) into action. This is often achieved with a call to action – a statement or visual that encourages consumers to make a purchase or perform a certain desired action. This could mean anything from including QR codes that customers can scan to reminding them about special offers. Whatever form it takes, keep your CTAs quick and relevant.
Monetise your displays
Finally, you could actually be using your displays to boost revenue. In a more immediate fashion, this could mean displaying coupons and discounts that can be used either in-store or online, but it could also mean renting out digital signage space to third parties to promote their own businesses.
