A recent industry report by global industry analyst Research and Markets looked at current LED usage through to expected use to year 2018. The report highlighted three main themes: a trend in LED dominance of the TV and monitor display market – to the point of saturation, an increase in LED demand due to desire to find products with lower energy consumption and a supply-demand gap that has seen a stockpiling of LED inventory.
It confirmed that the popularity of LEDs is continually increasing, due hugely to the energy saving capabilities they possess. Use of LEDs now ranges from domestic to commercial and across a wide spectrum from general lighting to TVs and Smartphones. Key vendors are listed in the report were OSRAM, Philips, Nichia and Cree.
