Production was announced this month by Luminus Devices, of the new Big Chip Round LEDs. Luminus exhibited it’s exciting new range at a recent trade fair in Frankurt, Germany. The Big Round chip is a major breakthrough that will provide greatly increased efficiency through advanced design. The fiber is round, the optic is round, but the LED has always been square it was an optical mismatch.’ explained Don McDaniel, Global Marketing Manager of Entertainment Light at the speciality company. With the optical mismatch resolved, the new innovation has been designed to fit a variety of illuminations. It can deliver a remarkable amount of single source lumens which will lead to new markets in high-intensity applications, from medical devices to entertainment machinery.
